About this site

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Since Port Lockroy is a living museum, we have very few mod cons which is just the way we like it :-)   It does however mean that there’s no internet access and e-mail communication over an Iridium satellite phone will be fairly limited.  Therefore, to keep you up to date with my news, I’ll be e-mailing short regular updates to Mum and Dad, who have very kindly agreed to manage this site back at Blog HQ!

Between November and March, they will upload updates as often as they can along with photos which I’ll post home on DVD.

I’d love to hear from you too, so if you post comments Mum and Dad will do their best to send these on. Better still, make my day and put pen to paper!! Photos of what’s going on back home, scribbles by little ones and emergency supplies of sweets, chocolate and peppermint tea all gratefully received!

If you’d like to write to me or anyone else in the team, our address is as follows:

UK AHT – Port Lockroy, c/o Stanley Post Office, Stanley, Falkland Islands, South Atlantic, FIQQ 1ZZ

  1. Very best wishes to you and all the team going out to Port Lockroy. Deeply envious of you.

Colleagues who are old Antarctica hands say talking to the penguins is fine – but when they start talking back – it’s time to worry ;-)
